Even Lisa has some Floridians worried

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Tue Sep 28, 2004 1:21 pm

I don't know if it's PTSD or if it's just anxiety.. But some people I talk too are even worried about Lisa even though she is forecast to go out to sea and stay there..

I for 1.. am not that concerned about Lisa.. Sometime this week my boards should finally be coming down.. They've been up for about 3 weeks lol

Lisa is headed this way, I'd be very surprised if it turned round and went to Florida.

Edit - Isn't due to turn NE until 3 days time though.

No, it would extratropical when it got here. We have had several ex-hurricanes pass through here this year. I think ex-Karl brought some heavy rain to northern Scotland a few days ago.

Wasn't it the remnants of Bonnie that caused the Boscastle flooding in August?

Well I dont think they have to worry about lisa. I hope, but I am pretty sure that she will not be wrearing her head around FL this year. Hopefully not but in 2010 maybe.

If you listen to the media the Boscastle floods were caused by "global warming" The remnants of Bonnie sounds like a far more sensible answer.

Yes, I noticed that the BBC had run several stories on global warming ever since Charley.

lisa is history for the us=fish storm, with the large trough in place which is about typical for late sept getting into oct, when we have to shift our attn to western carib. Cape Verde could have a storm but it would do a lisa or danielle type course.

Did you see the special climate change programme on ITV with Trevor McDonald? That was almost 30 minutes of footage of damage in Boscastle

Then there was the programme the other week the BBC did simulating a "hurricane" off the Norfolk coast. (Apparently no one would notice it was there even though on their sat image it was just a few miles off the coast) Somone needs to tell them about the change in the Atlantic Multidecadal Mode and that we have entered a more active hurricane period, or they will continue to blame hurricanes on global warming for the next 25-40 years.

I did see those programmes - really interesting.

You're right, someone really should let them know that increased activity is expected. Do you think that when this period of activity ends the BBC will blame it on the Gulf Stream being cut off?

You found the BBC one interesting? I found it so OTT I viewed it as a comedy. This seemed to be the view of everyone on the Net-Weather forum.

They will probably blame it on that yes, if not they will make something else up.

I will admit there was some element of comedy in the BBC programme, but I do tend to find just about anything on the weather interesting. (Even if it is a little OTT)

BTW, have you seen this:-

The "general public" appear to have been fed nonsense about either:
1: global warming causing more hurricanes
or
2: "the END of DAYS"

Climatology says, ...
It's just time.

I have to add my favorite quote:
"Floridians are so jumpy, they would duck and cover if a seagull breaks wind"
