Hey, I will never forget that magical day in January 1977 when I woke up to hear that snow had been seen in the Everglades on Miami NWS radar. As I drove to my 8 am class at FL Atlantic University, I opened my car window and had flakes hit me in the face. Later, I stood in the parking lot in amazement as gale force winds blew snow all over the place.

Yup. I was in Orlando. My parents woke me to see snow in the middle of the night.

I have a digital of it. A must show for our northern friends.
Could not figure how to do attachment. But not only did they show it once but numerous times. Sure glad I put mittens in my hurricane box. LOL By the way all fine here, except a few trees on my street and the fact no one has power on my street except for me. Same thing with Fran. Strange.

I know this isn't like snow in Florida, but in 1992 we had the local meteoroligist here in north Arkansas on the Christmas eve 10p.m forecast say there was absolutely no chance of snow. Well, we woke up to 4 inches on the ground when my Dad called at 8a.m. and it snowed till 2p.m. We got around 8 inches for a white Christmas.

Yes, it snowed in the Tampa/ St Pete area in January 1977....accumilating snow. It was a record breaking arctic air mass in place....below zero here in metro Atlanta, and upper air disturbances passing through the bitterly cold air produced light snow across much of Florida....a dusting as far south as Fort Myers and Homestead.
In fact, some areas of northern Florida recieved more snow (3-6") in January 1977 than my location west of Atlanta, Georgia (2")....including Pensacola.

Yes, Kevin, it did snow in Naples too. I was working for the Board of Education at the time and the entire building ran out into the parking lot -some to see their very first snow. Of course, it didn't accumulate because the ground was too warm but it was fun to try to catch snowflakes on your tongue in in Naples.
