Is this a sign of surface circulation? Molasses Reef (off Upper Keys) reporting WSW at 12 k, points north of that Ivans-spawn blob of moisture have NE winds.

Is the sheer expected to let up or continue?

TWC just said there is a sign of surface circulation just east of south florida. Not sure if that's verified, but I understand we have an investigation area now.

Radar of low pressure center just east of Broward???

#26 Postby DAVE440 » Mon Sep 20, 2004 3:03 pm

Here's a current shot of intellicast and nexrad radar from Miami.

Some spin is clearly visible on radar. Cant tell exactly where a low pressure center might be...but appears to my novice eye it might be over the ocean east of Broward County. Will this be..."the spawn of Ivan?"

Well there's less shear in the Gulf, and in that area it's forecast to decrease some as well. So once this gets out in the Gulf, there will be beter conditions for organizing.

Wow! It will probably be called Matthew (or Nicole if 93L develops first). This is amazing, though. If it does get upgraded, it will probably just get to 50, 55 M.P.H.
