I put up plywood on the east side of my house along with the north side before Frances. I then decided to leave them up until Ivan was north of Cedar Key. It is like a tomb in here! I have to use lights 24-7 to see anything in the dining room as well as the kitchen. I am getting sun deprivation! Now Jeanne! wondering, maybe I should leave it up till December, what do ya think?

LOL I've wondered that myself. I finally had my hubby pull the plywood off the kitchen windows because I was tired of being in a cave. Of course, the plywood may be back up this weekend, but at least I got a few days of sunlight LOL

you should take some of it down, at leats. Besides the light issue, there's always the fire issue. I've seen several news stories lately of people trapped in their homes by plywood shutters when a fire breaks out. I took one down off a bedroom window and one off a living room window plus the sliding door
it won't take that long to put back up.

Dont feel alone. Alot of houses here in Merritt Is. are still up. You need to get it down kind of like bomb shelters back in the 60s. Also the plywood will rot. Store it in a dry spot so you can use it for years. Good luck.

If you paint it after it dries should it last for a very long time.

Well, I will look at it this way. After 5 days of no power and with this extra insulation on my windows, my power bill should be wayyyyy low this next month!

Actually the same plywood has been put up here twice since 1998 (Georges) and Charley. Held together very good during Charley. I keep them in my garage and they have not warped... yet

Oh I soooo hear you!! I live in an A frame house, and from the tops of my sliding doors to the ceiling is glass panels, and the same on the west side above my front door all glass from the ceiling to the door. Its a wonderful feature, I get great cloud formation sightings and the lightning shows are great! I just have not seen the windows since Charley came knocking.

I cant be bothered to take those plywood sheets down, it was a huge mission for my hubby to put them up as its an odd A shape. I think they can just stay there until Jeanne has done her thing.

Don't count on much reduction in your power bill. I was without power for six days after Charley and the bill was very little difference. Took to
much running to get the humidity out of the house after six days of off and on rain.
