Hi, everyone, I'm one of the many that found this wonderful board as Fran came bearing down on Florida. (I found it on Fodor's travel chat boards, by the way!)
I'm wondering if FISH stands for something when you're talking about hurricanes not hitting land - why is that term used? Thanks and sorry for such a newbie question.
OK, thanks! I thought it might have been an acronym, I've spent too much time thinking along the lines of "Finally In Sea Hurricane" etc. None of the acronyms I came up with were very clever so I wondering if I was missing something. But now I get it - a hurricane that doesn't hit land only bothers the fishes, hence the term "fish."
