From Miami Post:
"One early defeat: A 20-foot chunk of the Navarre Beach pier in Florida's Santa Rosa County collapsed under the force of enormous waves."
Portions of U.S. 98 are under water accoring to several newspapers.

I spoke with an internet buddy through out the storm last night. She is in Gulf Shores. Power had been out for many hours prior to the eye hitting. Lots of tree's down, scary ordeal.
Haven't been able to get ahold of her this morning. Busy at first, then no answer. Other posters have spoken with her though and she is fine.
Hope this helps

I just spoke with one of the other Gulf Breeze members there and she reported that power outages are widespread, there's no water, and that there's still hurricane force winds to deal with...there is some scattered damage north of US 98 but she hasn't been able to go back to her home south of 98 yet.

From another forum:
I just spoke with a friend that lives on Laurel road near the elementary school, he didn't evacuate. They had over 3 feet of water in their home and the whole neighborhood was underwater. The water has gone down some, sounds like any development south of 98 was underwater last night/morning. He said the wind damage was minimal...just flooding. God Bless all of them!

Brownsville: Looting and serious flooding reported
Officials have reported looting in the Brownsville area. Portions of Bayfront Parkway, a major artery to the beach, are washed out. The Wall South Memorial is now under water. At least a half dozen houses downtown Pensacola on Martin Luther King Drive have been demolished. The Aragon subdivision is under water and cars are submerged up to their windows. Major banks throughout Pensacola, including the high rise SunTrust, one of Pensacola’s highest buildings, have windows blown out.
