I was getting ready to say that was one of the highways leading from I-10 to Pensacola and not I-10, but the Pensacola News Journal says its a quarter mile section of I-10 eastbound.

You know that rig could have broken down or pulled over way before Ivan and they just didn't have time to get the truck off the bridge! Let's hope that is all it is! Could also be, he/she dropped the trailer because of another problem and just bob-tailed right off that bridge to safety. May have even been an empty trailer to begin with making it even harder to drive in wind.
Jus sayin!

We had to drop a ton of gasoline loads yesterday because of Ivan. drivers were wishing to get out of town and we obliged. Putting drivers in this kind of risk for the sake of the quota is not something we would do. This truck is a great example of hwat can go wrong.

You are exactly right. My mother delivers blood and driving in the middle of a hurricane. The state police and powers that be were waiting for her, watching her slide back and forth across that bridge. She was doing what was needed.

I am always glad to hear of the companies who put the drivers wellbeing as a priority! However it doesn't seem all drivers are that fortunate. The company my brother drives for is a company located in Jacksonville and they don't consider weather in their dispatches there is almost always no excuse for a late load. They have to drive in high winds heavy rains and snow/ ice
