latest radar loop looks like Jeanne is going further and further into the nether regions of the DR. If she doesn't gain latitude soon, there will be little left of Jeanne on the other end of the DR

Quite unlikely at this point, although conditions will be pretty good for intensification in the Bahamas. All depends on how badly she's messed up by Hispaniola. TPC has her a Cat 2 on Sunday, and on the "plan for one level higher" principle one should not be surprised at a 3.

Well, I'd pray for a fish -- but really, given current models, it seems quite possible that it will make landfall in the U.S.

I think we need some definition clarification so this doesn't get made into something it is not. This is not a racial thing, it's a semantic thing.

Is a FISH a tropical system which has:
1. no impact on ANY land
2. whose EYE doesn't cross any land
3. no impact on Contentent
4. whose EYE doesn't cross a contenental landmass
5. no impact on CONUS
6. whose EYE doesn't cross CONUS

I suppose definition 1 would please the most people, but the I imagine the sailors will be offended.

You guys still haven't learned. Ivan broke how many records? That already proves that these storms don't have to follow old rules. Who's to say Jeanne won't strengthen two categories in 24 hours? She'll be sitting at cat 3 three days from land. Then what? Predicition go up to cat 4? lol Even 6 hours before Ivan made landfall people were scratching their heads at what intensity it would be. "Ivan's dying.", "Rapid intensification!", "Ivan looks weakened.", "Ivan's bombing!" lol I mean you never can tell.
