The NHC doesn't try to scare people. They try to save lives by warning people. If they're going to err, I'd much rather them err on the side of caution anyway. Don't bash them on here. See what tomorrow brings. Judging from reports already, it won't be pretty. But I will be grateful if it's not as bad as they expected.

Starting useless threads like these, in such a critical time when there are so many damage reports coming in from everywhere and so many desperate people, is simply not nice or respectful IMHO. So many people have already told you all the instruments are down. End of Story.
Please have some respect for the need for real information and discussion at this point in time. Sorry Southerngale, I am not trying to play Moderator but this is really bugging me.

The National Hurricane Center isn't trying to scare people, they have been getting their information right from the Hurricane
Hunter Aircraft. The instruments they are using are certain indicating true maximum sustained winds in the eyewall of 135 mph.
There may not be any reporting station where the eyewall has been... and as Joshua said, they can only take so much wind.

So was I.... AND????
There is still no way to compare this cane to that cane unless you were in it and I think being in NC proves you are not in Alabama. These people are going to suffer major devestation, NOW, not then. Have some compassion and empathy, Please. Worrying about wind is a moot point.
****Mods, Please excuse my sarcasism and ummm...I just can't help it, and this should be the END of this bad thread discussion.*****
Sandman, you are beginning to sound like a little kid comparing "pee pee's"
Mine is bigger then yours and so on. This is not the time to be childish. There are people who are going to be in major need of so many things, lets not waste anymore time on this subject. This subject line was already closed once, and you began another thread on the same thing. Please stop. Thank you. And have a lovely day.
