Central baldwin county in eye.......

#1 Postby manofsteele79 » Thu Sep 16, 2004 2:58 am

The family is walking in the driveway accessing the damage so far..... lots and lots of pines and oaks down. One of their cars is crushed and another tree is leaning heavily towards the living room of the house.

My dad is pretty upset but my mother and siblings are pretty facinated with the power of the wind. My grandparents are doing fine but this isn't their first dance. They were in NO for Betsy and Long Beach, MS for Camille.

I live in Foley, it was pretty bad until the eye hit. The winds have just started blowing hard from the West now.

House was shaking, wind blowing underneath. Air and rain coming under the doors. Trees down everywhere, quite a bit of damage to other houses in my neighborhood, but nothing more than roof and porch damage that I can see. Hard to assess damage with only a flashlight. See my post under "South Alabama Conditions".

Good luck, see you all in the morning.

Thanks for the update. Prayers to you and your family. I know the area well as my Mom and Dad used to live in Elsanor.

Art, you take care. I have some very good friends in Fairhope, as well as Bay Minette. Went to visit and it was lovely. Can't imagine it now :(
