Man made Ivan killer?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Man made Ivan killer?

#1 Postby STORMSURGE » Wed Sep 15, 2004 10:01 pm

I was listening to am radio today at work and caught the end of a conversation that was talking about dropping something into these storms to weaken them and perhaps dry them up. He referred to them as some type of "balls" that then hit the ocean and dissolve into water. The guy asked when we would try these experimental balls, and he said now, with Ivan. IS THIS TRUE?? Has anyone else heard of this?

the Dyn-o-mat man has struck again! There is an idiot in Jacksonville that thinks he can dump stuff in a hurricane to make it slow down by sucking all the moisture out of it with his product and then these asorbent things fall into the sea. Hmm sounds a bit messier than Mother Natures ways. If you search the forum you can see post about this idiot every where.

before anyone actually comes up with a good plan to destory hurricanes...i sure hope they develop a better way to bring trillions of tons of life giving water to the USA first....destroying the hurricane is the easy part.

That goof ball has been around for years with his Dyn 0 Mat (?) theory. I'm surprised he hasn't paid us a visit or maybe he did and was banned.

Why do you think this monster weakened so much last night for no apparent reason? Why were the vortex messages so far in between last night?why so many flights out of KAFB last night? Why was a post by TCC deleted by this board?

ccc, first of all I was just asking if anyone had heard of this nonsense that I heard on the radio. I had never heard this before and was curious if anyone had any input on this topic. I do not believe that nature can be halted, nor do I believe that we should be playing around with junk science. Given that, these storms at times give alot of benefits to drought stricken areas..AT TIMES. To ask a question is simply asking, not agreeing, not defying , ASKING. I hope to ask alot of questions in my life, therefore I and everyone else LEARNS

People like Dynomat always forget that nature does things for a reason. And every time they try to change something they run afoul of 'the law of unintended consequences.'

Hurricanes are not here to inconvenience mankind. They serve, in part, as giant heat/energy transfer engines. Suppose it were possible to knock down every cat 3, 4 or even 5 hurricane. How would Mother react? Perhaps with cat. 6,7, or 8 storms (Megacanes?) Perhaps in ways we can't even begin to imagine yet.

Just my thoughts. SW

[HOMER] MMMMMmmmm Megacanes.... [/HOMER]

I agree The law of unintended consiquneces always comes and bites one on the ass once its already too late to remedy the situation. They are there for a reason, same way forest fires are there to clear out all the underbrush. Look at what we did with them; we stopped all the small forest fires, so the bruch grew and grew. It prevented small saplings from germenating, and from growing. It also allowed for HUGE mamoth fires with great intensity to burn because the brush overgrew from what nature intended.
Lets be smart, not stupid again!
