New Orleans...the worst is now..

whatever you are experienceing now is probably the worst you will see......and based on 9:00pm official nws reports that is GREAT news....

37mph....gusts to 47.....

if that is an accurate report...i must now question the windfield advisories (especially for the west side)....still no doubt that the central core will be very bad though....

am i missing something?

It isn't bad here at all yet. Still have power, no rain, and winds are gusty. A few small branches have fallen in my yard, but that's it. Hopefully, we are out of the woods.

I think you are. The strongest winds are near the center. NO is NOT out of the woods at all. IMO, they will see hurricane force winds in about 3-4 hours.

yoda..i dont see the center getting any closer than it is now is my point......and whats more...stations se of new orleans are only seeing 30mph sustained......and they are definitely at their closest point to the eye.....

the outer west side of the storm is not producing much in the way of wind.

10pm report from nola...winds dropped from 37mph to 32mph......
