Ivan has become annular ...

#1 Postby Stormsfury » Wed Sep 15, 2004 7:38 pm

Ok, Ivan does NOT have the look of Isabel, BUT Ivan has once again ... become annular ...

Ivan does have the large eye and NO apparent banding features ... not the perfect looking "donut", but I'm hungry for some Krispy Kreme...

C'mon now - that's just cruel! :grrr: I was born in the birthplace of Krispy Kreme, and I devour them every time I go home to visit my parents....BUT....I'm not able to get them regularly because the closest KK to me is in North Miami - over 30 min. away (with good traffic). And no, the ones in the grocery stores are NOT as good....why you gotta bring up KK at a time like this???

Krispy Kreme isnt a real donut. Our local favorite Meche's is a real donut. Anyway, I agree Ivan has been very annular looking on radar.

Annular means donut shaped and less banding...what else does annular mean with regard to strength impact etc?!

Krispy Kreme is the BEST! and Ivan is looking very much like one. Wonder if the HOT Doughnuts sign will be flahsing in Pensacola tomorrow? Doubtful.

I second the Meches...grad school in Lafayette, LA is fattening.

Now I know what annular is.

This article (PDF file) was written on annular hurricanes ... pretty technical stuff, though ... and today, apparent Rossby waves were apparent just before the transition to the more "donut" look to Ivan ... last year's Isabel's mesovorticies (Rossby Waves) were readily apparent ...

The case studies that I've seen that have annular hurricanes featured have been at LEAST CAT 4 ...

lol. sorry but if youve only had Krispy Kreme, you havent had a really good Donut. KKs are too sugarcoated and thick. Meches are nice and airy and perfectly sugared. Oh man Im hungry
Back to the storm though. Ivan is a very impressive and intense sucker. He is certainly close to, if not annular, and I personally bleieve this is why he has remained so strong his entire life. Hes always been very well organized and thus extremely susceptible to rapid intensification.

Now the eye is narrowing... becoming elongated, as indicated by close-up radar of 120Z... almost like it is trying to get ready to fit into Mobile Bay!

Country's best donuts are from the Tatonut shop in Ocean Springs MS.
Let's hope it's still there tomorrow...
