Our local met said it would likely curve out to sea and not bother us at all.

Yeah... passes directly over PR, skirts DR coast and passes through the Bahamas, yet it's a "fish".

Right.

Excuse me.....I am sorry for the hurricane inconvenience you might have....<pause>

I am hoping it is a fish as far as the east coast is concerned!

We really are entitled to at least 3 fish in a row after what we've been through, and are stilll going through.

'Scuse me... Jeanne doesn't qualify as a fish. A fish never touches land at all. Our friends in PR know this is not a fish storm.

I agree that the definition of fish is not clearly understood. Jeanne has already hit land so it can not be considered a fish. Just because it doesn't affect the CONUS doesn't make it a fish. It can "go out to sea" which would be much better terminology especially in difference to our friends in the Caribbean and Bahamas.

Don't mean to sound preachy but sometimes we forget that our area isn't the only one.

not likely to go fishing

First, I recognize this storm has already impacted Puerto Rico and I hope that with all the rain they're getting, all our friends fare well. Second, I strongly doubt that Jeanne will be a fish. Everything about the synoptic setup suggests she will eventually face a building high pressure ridge off the East Coast. This should halt her northward progression and turn her back west. I don't know if it will happen east of S. FL, GA, SC, etc., but I would be extremely surprised if Jeanne fails to make landfall somewhere along the SE coast in 5-8 days.

(Of course, if she plows into Hispanola, she could just completely fall apart)

That path sticking turns it right into NC / VA doesn't it?

Clouded the future is. Always in motion is the future. Meditate on the future of Jeanne, I will.

Looks like it might be trying to get its act together but NHC said it was heading west and if it is then it will fall apart over the mountains of the DR.

I agree, when you have two deaths how can it be a fish.
