Ivan vs Allison
Obviously, the winds and surge along the coast are the immediate concern. However, with Ivan predicted to pretty much stall for 2 days, could inland rain levels exceed those of Allison? Does anyone know how long Allison remained stationary?

Yeah...maybe as high as 5 according to the best track.
.
I think the highest rainfall total was 36.99".
Some things to think about - Allison was still close enough to water to draw in moisture from the Gulf, probably aiding in these high totals. While the Appalachians are further inland, the topography allows for orographically-induced convection that is deeper near where the mean wind intersects the mountains. There could easily be totals approaching 2' (or more?) if Ivan stalls for 3-5 days.
