Frequent Tornado Warnings in Tallahassee

#1 Postby N2FSU » Wed Sep 15, 2004 5:05 pm

We have had 2 warnings in the last 5 minutes...one for Cairo, GA which is just NW of TLH and one for just offshore Apalachicola.

Look at these rotating storms lining up in the feeder band offshore:

They're not cancelled. University is being very rash about it after cancelling the day after Frances came thru here with only 25 mph winds.

Duh, this isn't Frances. Of course, the kids are probably safer on campus than out on the roads but still, I think some kind of closure is in order.

Just my 2 cents.

I've been watching quite a few rotational couplets. I don't know the geography very well, but I see two possible tornados.

The theory that the FSU administration used is that the kids would be safer at the school than on the road or trying to get home.

GEEZ!

It's pretty stormy here near Shell Point on the coast in Wakulla.... I fear that there will be a few tornado warnings for Wakulla with a feeder band 'training' into Wakulla over the next few hours... already a 'nado warning for Franklin! This is exciting, but rather scary at the same time... Classes were cancelled at 6:45 (thank god). I was scheduled to take an exam (Statistics) tomorrow morning, but that's off now! It would've sucked driving to Tally in the morning in all this mess... There was a significant rise of the tide during high tide around 3:30 today and my road was completely under water down here... overnight, the surge + new moon tide + wave action should create significant coastal flooding... We've already had more of an impact from Ivan than we did from Frances and Bonnie COMBINED... not much in the way of wind (as expected), but that is slowly picking up (20-25 mph)...

Just got off the phone with my sister ...my niece arrived home an hour ago. She left Tallahassee late last night. She listened to us! :-)
