Hurricane Ivan is much more intense than were Hurricanes Lili, Georges, Opal, Andrew, Elena, Frederic, Eloise, and Betsy, all historic hurricanes to have made landfall along the northern Gulf coast. Hurricane Ivan is expected to be similar to Hurricane Audrey, a very strong category four hurricane, when it reaches land.

Um Derek? You may want to fix those winds at landfall... 1205 mph is just a TAD too strong for me... :eek: :eek: :eek:

Actually, 1205 KT would be 1385 MPH :eek:

Any new thoughts on Jeanne. Supposed to be at 26.5 N and 77.2 W in abacos on Sat-tues. Looks like just where Jeanne is going.

I have a question also about Jeanne why is accuweather projected map difference than the 5 pm NHC projected path what gives? accu. shows her going through FL and NHC has her coming NW
now i don't know what to think about this. Any thoughts ????

jeanne will be in the bahamas as a cane, sadly some of the same areas that were wiped clean by Frances

Thanks derek for your accurate forecasts. For the last week, my husband would ask"What does your guy think" referring to you. We're here in mobile riding this thing out. we live about 2 miles from the bay on a river. The house made it through camille and Frederic, so we decided to stay. i just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate what you do and the obvious time you put into bringing us level-headed forecasts and observations. Good luck to you on your career, and next time I'll be tuned in to your site.
