Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 1:05 PM EDT on September 15, 2004
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the
Florida Panhandle and western sections of the Florida Big
Bend... effective until 1100 PM EDT Wednesday (1000 PM cdt).
This watch includes the following counties:
In Florida... Walton... Holmes... Washington... Bay... Jackson...
Calhoun... Gulf... Gadsden... Liberty... Franklin... Leon... and Wakulla.
Remember a Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes
and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. People in
these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather
conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
Tornado Watch for portions of
Far southern Alabama
Florida Panhandle
coastal waters
Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from noon until
1000 PM CDT.
Tornadoes... thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph... and dangerous
lightning are possible in these areas.
The Tornado Watch area is along and 40 statute miles north and
south of a line from 5 miles south southwest of Mobile Alabama to
20 miles southeast of Tallahassee Florida.
Remember... a Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings.
Discussion... outerbands bands of Ivan will continue to lift nwd and
rotate across the FL Panhandle and far srn al through the mid
evening. Very strong shear will support supercells and a threat of
tornadoes.
Aviation... tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with extreme
turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A few cumulonimbi
with maximum tops to 450. Mean storm motion vector 16035.
