Intensity Burst?

#1 Postby Sanibel » Wed Sep 15, 2004 12:23 pm

Ivan's eye has cleared and slightly sharpened into a better more round center. The IR tops have bursted red in a quick formation sort of halfway between a good red donut and transient red banding.

If this is accompanied by a pressure drop we should stay any intensity drop predictions and keep him at 135mph all the way in.

The extrap line is presently for Biloxi with Pascagoula taking the hardest eyewall core. If synoptics play-out straight Ivan should hook straight into Mobile Bay on a mild curve.

The reason I made a new topic on this is because this form change merits immediate notice...

What holds the most credibility - extrap or synoptic? Or is there no relationship to draw any conslusions on the difference?
