Floridians Send Their Wishes to Those In Ivan's Path
There were hundreds of Gulf Coast residents on this board that, even though they were out of "harm's way", took the time to send good wishes and prayers to peninsular Florida residents over the past six weeks through multiple storms.
I just want you to know that it meant a lot, and now that you are in the path of Ivan, it's time to send the same messages to you.
We're here for you now, and will be here for you after. Very best wishes, prayers, and safe flight through the next few days.
Gratefully,
SeaBrz

Very well said. I can't think of a thing to add. Good luck to all of you.

Thank You---I also ask that you pray for my City, itself. New Orleans is one of America's most beautiful and unique cities with one-of-a-kind architecture that encompasses almost the entire city with homes and buildings that are over 150 years old that are complemented by gorgeous live oaks the same age or older. I begin to well up thinking any of these American gems could be destroyed. This city is truly sacred to its residents.

I have posted many times over the last day or so how much you are in my thoughts and prayers. I feel for all of you more than you can imagine.
Not since 9/11 have I been so upset by something that does not affect me or my family directly. That includes going through Charley and experiencing Frances in both the Caribbean and Florida.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words over the last few weeks. They are being returned ten-fold now. I wish the very best for all in the path of Ivan. Be safe, my friends.
Lynn
PS. Thanks for starting this thread.

Sean, even though you spell your name wrong
, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone in the warning area. Heavy duty prayers going up for your historic city. I had the pleasure of finally visiting there a couple of years ago for the first time and I must admit, it's quite an adventure.
Take care and stay safe,
Shawn

I've been lurking around this board for a few days now, so I figured it's time to pitch in. I can't tell the mods how glad I am to have found this place.
At the company where I work here in Atlanta, all of us have family and friends all over the gulf coast. A good friend of mine there has family in NOLA, while my aging parents live north of Tampa. All weekend long I was sweating bullets, even going so far as booking a flight to Tampa so I could drive my parents (against their will!!) back up here to Atlanta. Now my friend is rightly concerned about his own family.
My heart goes out to all of you who are in the path of this beast, and know that those of us elsewhere are sending prayers your way. Be safe, and remember that in these circumstances, there is no such thing as being too cautious.

Welcome, Metalman! So very many people on this board are affected by these storms that DON'T have storm target zip codes.
I'm not a moderator, but I know you're welcome, and truly hope to hear the news about your family and friends that may be affected.
Best of luck to all of them.

Myself and my family are sending out prayers from Frances ground zero. We took the direct hit from Frances and thanks to all of you and your prayers we made it through. There were some rough times but us and our city survived. You will also. Our prayers are with all who are in the path of Ivan. Check and recheck your plans and supplies and get evacuate if you feel you need to. I understand the anxiety you are going through. It's been almost two weeks since we dealt with Frances but I remember the emotions like it was yesterday. May God Bless all of you.

Thanks SeaBrz! The thing is... my parents just refused to believe there was any chance that they were in danger. Oh man was I steaming!!
After having lived through Andrew myself when I was younger, I just can't stress enough how seriously you have to take threats such as this. I am no meteorology expert, though I've learned tons from this board. The bottom line is please take this storm seriously. I am no person to shrink from a challenge, but for the sake of you and your family, if you are remotely in danger of this storm, take evasive action, no matter how silly you think it might be!
Peace to those of you in the path.
