I dont like the sound of that one bit. I can only imagine since you live in Homestead that everytime somebody says its gonna hit South Florida, those images of Andrew keep haunting you. I know how that must feel. :(

Every time a model or someone like Joe B says "plowing through S FL" or "in the FL Straits in 6-7 days" it NEVER EVER materializes. lol

Roland Steadham came on at 11PM last night and pretty much said flat out that it was going north, nothing to worry about. I was very surprised at how certain he seemed.

roland said the same thing at 5 pm yesterday. roland is just nervous about his doppler radar getting blown over in that tower on I-75 in Miramar. that tower doesnt look real stable to me.

Upside of heavy hurricance season in Florida? Exchange of snowbirds for skeeters!

I warned my bro-in-law in Phoenix to expect an onslaught of retirees over the next couple years...Florida's now too scary for them...Yippee!

I remain a hopeful native!

Wasn't Frances a 2 when he made landfall?

It was bad but it technically wasn't a major storm.

gkrangers---

Discussing Frances is a bit off-topic for a Jeanne discussion, but yes, I believe it was a 2 in more ways than one...

Frances was the #2 hurricane to hit Florida in three weeks. And as a Central Florida resident directly affected, THAT was major.

Where do you live? :sun:

Hi, gkrangers -- Since you've omitted it from you're profile, could you please tell us where you live?

It's the Naval Research Lab in Monterey, CA that has current satellite pictures of Jeanne (close ups too). Try navigating from their home page:
