Staying on the Coast?

#1 Postby BC » Tue Sep 14, 2004 10:36 am

So who is planning on staying on the MS Gulf Coast and who is planning on leaving? I've got reservations in Memphis (not sure if I'd actually make it there), but I may be staying..

I'm almost positive we are going to stay. It's not a definite though. Guess we are going to make the final decision later this evening. I live about 10 miles inland, north of I-10, so I think we'll be ok here in Biloxi.

We are staying in Pass Christian. House has hurricane shutters up and we have made final preparations. Depending on where this thing goes and how strong it is will determine if we make the move to stay with friends. We have 4 dogs and not too many places would want them. I hope everyone in the path of Ivan stays safe.

No, don't do that!!!! LOL

We are planning on going to a safer area IF we decide to stay. My sister lives a few miles north of us and isn't as close to the river as I am, so we'll go there.

I don't know! The more I think about it, the more I want to leave. Guess I'll make that decision later this evening.

In Biloxi. We have reservations in Brookhaven, but not sure if we're going. Surge not a problem, so we're leaning toward staying. Like I told the wife, unless we can go "100's" of miles away, might as well just stay here. Tornados are sometimes worse away from the coastline anyway!!

During georges I saw one and it damaged alot of buildings in the vacinity where I saw it. I too am right on th e water. During Elena, my Mother watched one jump her home and hit the one next door which took off the roof. So, they are no worse inland than they are on the coastline.

I'm 100 miles inland, about 35 or so miles W of New Orleans. Yesterday I was convinced of leaving, but my mother (who's 62 and disabled) now wants to stay.

During Elena we had a tiny twister that went down one side of the street on my parent's road.. Tore off parts of the fronts of the houses.. Good thing it was the other side of the street..
