Doc,

I'll be here for the duration. I won't do much but loaf, sleep and surf if I have power. My brother is an FSU grad btw, so the Noles are held in high regard by all my family. Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh.

I could be way off base but if it pans out like I think, I had a rough idea about 5 days ago what was going to happen. I'm expecting "Georges-ish" conditions in N.O. with some strong gusty winds, little rainfall and lots of power outages due to tree limbs taking out power lines and transformers blowing. But I really think the threat is east of me. Whether it's Henderson Point, Biloxi, Mobile or Pensacola (and possibly all those places), those east of a landfalling cat 3 from the S or SSW are in for it. Let's just hope the storm is moving > 12k when it makes landfall.

No AC for weeks!

After working storms in Larose & Golden Meadow (I was in GM for Andrew--I had just move down from Chicago 4 months earlier, and was pretty hurricane ignorant) just a bit of warning for those that aren't worried about storm surge, wind damage or flooding: Think about no AIR Conditioning in New Orleans for a week...or two...Unbearable...maybe death doesn't scare you, but think of the rash...

I'm heading out--back to Chicago--Tuesday early AM...I hope & pray that everyone that can will do the same....

If anyone has any info on I-55, I have gotten news that I-55 south is no longer open south of I-12, but they will not open the lanes to counter flow traffic to the North. this move makes no sense, since Georges proved that counter flow would be the ony way to effectively evacaute the area within 72 hours!
