Carl Arredondo on Channel 4....

The sheer over the Northern Gulf appears to have died down and "we have been counting on this sheer to weaken Ivan. This may mean that Ivan will not weaken before a Northern GOM landfall." This is terrible news, folks.

Breck and Baskin pretty much said the same thing at 9. Breck is in line with Bastardi with the Camille-esque path. I need to see if Joe put out a nightly update.

I have family (my parents out of town and coming home in the morning from Central Louisiana) coming in from out of town...we will make the decision as a family to either go to my sister's home in Holden, LA or to another relatives home in Jackson, MS....I may have to stay here...I have two friends that can't leave (one has to watch a hotel)...I hate to leave them behind as they aren't from here...We will likely staying in a hotel in the quarter to ride it out. Things are going to be decided tomorrow. I'm getting much more concerned after seeing this evenings news and the new track...the trend west has been occurring now for days and it's continuing...

Hey Sean - Pass Christian reply

#13 Postby Biloxi » Mon Sep 13, 2004 10:23 pm

I live on the beach in Pass Christian and I have been reading your post for some time. I grew up in Lake Vista and went to Jesuit and Loyola then moved to the coast. I have family (mother and sister ) that live in N.O. and I am very concerned for all of you. I remember during Camille, I was around 8 - walking to the levee and seeing the water about 2 feet from the top. Amazing thing to see. The levee's have been build way up since then but the bowl theory is very scary. Just no where for all that water to go. Thanks for posting local statements from N.O. I will do the same with our station WLOX.

Take care of yourself

My 10PM met here in BR makes out like Ivan is going to move north or NNE before long due to "high pressure over the NE ATL weakening" and "weak trough over SE US pulling him NNW" No mention of high pressure rebuilding over GOM at all, which can clearly be seen on WV loops.

Was that Pat Shingleton. I think he's vaguely aware that LA is a gulf coast state. BR news is awful and usually way behind.

Leave the BR mets to doing 30% chance of t-storms during the Summer. For hurricane coverage, they will parrot the NHC. Check out http://www.wwltv.com for rebroadcasts of WWL TV's mets.
