Estimate Evac. Drive Times from NO

#1 Postby LAMOM » Mon Sep 13, 2004 10:00 pm

These are the estimated drive times it will take for those leaving New Orleans.

Alexandria 16 hours
Baton Rouge 8 hours
Lafayette 8 hours
Lake Charles 16 hours
Shreveport 20 hours
Hattiesburg 8 hours
Jackson 24 hours
Meridian 16 hours
*Travel time during an evacuation is four times longer than in normal conditions.

I am heading to Tuscaloosa tomorrow morning. Given the east track of the storm I am optimistic that fewer folks will be going out that way.

Perhaps. I have family there, though...and with very young children that trumps hotel accomodations!

I actually will be heading down the BR since my wife and kids live down there. I guess the traffic heading into harm's way won't be too bad. :(
