COMPLACENCY already starting here
I just thought I'd note this..
A lot of complacency is already starting in my part of the area.. We all have a "this won't happen again attitude" {I myself am still a little nervous}
I was actually watching people REMOVE their plywood today. This had me very concerned especially if Ivan does indeed make a hard right turn and head straight for us..
I hate to sound cruel.. But if Ivan does somehow decide to come this way.. I'm actually going to laugh at the complacent people.. It's a shame that even after 2 majors, the complacency is still there

Well, on one hand I agree but you have to look at Ivan and realize that there is a 90 percent chance it is going to miss us. I don't see what harm it would be in leaving the plywood up for one more day.
I just think that people want to feel that their lives are getting back to some sense of normalcy.
I hope you are kidding about laughing.
Human suffering is never funny except maybe in the movies.....
Cent Fla is not completely out of the woods but we are at the tree line and can see the open meadow ahead.

That is human nature unfortunately. People just dont do anything until it is too late. Lets just say that ever since Andrew here in South Florida, we have been doing an extremely fantastic job heading the warnings, getting prepare and even evacuating when called upon. You cant protect all those people the best you can do for yourself is to stay safe yourself and pray to which ever invisible man you pray to at night, that Ivan wont impact you. Take care man,

I live north of Orlando, and while I won't remove MY plywood until after this monster is slightly north of Tampa (if it *EVER* gets slightly north of TPA!) I think we are pretty safe from the bulk of the effects from Ivan.
I don't think you can say that just because some are taking down the plywood that they are necessarily 'complacent.' Maybe they just would like to see out of their windows again. I know that *I* sure would! It's been almost two weeks since I was last able to look out mine, and I would like some natural sunlight again. After over a month of tracking and hunkering down from Hurricanes, you can't blame people in central Florida for wanting to return to SOME kind of normalcy. Besides, plywood isn't a one-time use item. You CAN put it back up!

A family member of mine who has the luxury of time on their hands considered returning by air to mid-Florida tomorrow from far out of state. Made other plans for a few days though
... I said I would've been very angry and jumped up and down until I don't know what...
... had they not decided to give it a few more days.
I mean the returning evacuees and the supply situation alone.. I'm all for staying out of harm's way.. and when it's a storm like Ivan, I say give it a wide berth if you have the luxury to do so.
