Hmmm, interesting indeed! Doesn't seem to like the land. But what did it have against Granaeda?

I dont see anything indicating WNW. Maybe NW though. But yeah, Ivan doesnt seem to like islands. Too bad it didnt play this trick on Grenada :(.

It'll be really impressive if he can sense he's about to hit, say, Mobile, and do a right turn all the way around the Florida peninsula.

Clearly, this is a significant phenomenon. I imagine someone will make a PHd thesis about it.

But in the Caymans and here in Cuba, it didnt spare them from the worst winds. They easily got the 160 mph winds.

If you slow down the last 4 Frames it is clearly WNW... Could just be a wobble but WNW indeed.

Grenada didn't produce the "drag" that Jamaica, and Hispanola might have played due to the very high mountainous terrain ... Grenada is to my understanding a fairly flat island ...

Well it was brief and has almost cleared Cuba. This friction has been in full effect this year.

The "miss" of the end of Cuba is academic at that distance. The miss of Jamaica was almost a uniform 25-35 miles out, and Ivan's winds were not so fast. The eye is only a couple miles from Cuba, and the winds are scarily high.
