What do you think about northcentral Florida?...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

What do you think about northcentral Florida?...

My mom is on home oxygen which requires electricity. I'd like to get her to my brother's home in Macon, Ga. if it looks as though we may get tropical storm force winds or greater. We were without power for over 24 hours after Frances and many in Gainesville still don't have power. I've seen the WV loops and the western high pressing southeast, along with the high lifting out of the atlantic. It looks more and more like the Big Bend area could be an Ivan target. If it were to come ashore at or east of Appalachicola, what kind of weather could we expect here?

JKing, from your area to SW LA are all in the possible landfall area
As for weather, just remember Tropical Storm force winds, 39-73 mph, extend out almost 220 miles from the center, and Hurricane force winds, 74 mph +, extend out 105. That is a very large area that will be receiving very strong winds.

Here is the 5-day forecast for Jacksonville and you are a little further SW and closer to the Gulf--but it shows tropical storm force winds in the area...
