ixl: I think you were just taking my "apparent turn" to mean more than I meant. I meant that it *looked* like it had turned some, but until we see several more hours's worth of movement, we won't know. :-)

This thread will be locked shortly if the name calling and bickering does not stop!! What started out as a legitimate observation which others could have calmly and with back up expressed their opinions has quickly turned into a bashfest between different camps. I have deleted posts and will lock the thread and remove it if this continues. This warning applies to EVERYONE!!!! If we are forced to do this suspensions will be forthcoming. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!! There is no reason these things can not be discussed in a reasonable manner-NONE WHATSOEVER!!!

Ort suggested that the trough is lifting out. If true, and Ivan can feed high pressure to his north, wouldn't that imply he could still pull west and surprise everybody?

At this point, I think every suggestion of a move east is causing Floridians to have to keep changing diapers... :P

One of the other threads suggested that the mountains of Jamaica were a reason that hurricanes tend to miss that island. Could this be relevant to Ivan and Cuba based on the relatively slow forward speed and weak steering mechanisms?
