Yucatan landmass causing Erosion of the west side of Ivan?

#1 Postby paul e » Mon Sep 13, 2004 11:49 am

On the last few frames, does it look to anyone besides myself, that the yucatan peninsula is eroding the west side CDO area? I cant see it on the visible, but it seems plain as day on the infra red. I cant see that this wont result in a temporary weakening.. Anybody?

Could be land interaction, or just a little bit a shear.

Still a 913-915 mb hurricane though.

Eyewall replacement cycles will be the biggest factor in intensity flucations through Tuesday I must assume...
