When do the new models runs take place?

#1 Postby goodlife » Mon Sep 13, 2004 10:43 am

I've been keeping my eye on this page and I was wondering how often they run these models and when we can expect the newest runs?

check out the model sticky at the top of the page...12z models are coming out now...Eta = new orleans-ish, GEM = new orleans-ish, GFS = Mobile bay...furthest west run yet.

AVN, now called GFS, is updated 4 times a day, I think, 00z, 06z, 12z, 18z.
CMC is updated twice a day, 00z, 12z.
GFDL is updated same schedule as the AVN.
NOGAPS is updated 00z and 12z.
UKMET is updated same as NOGAPS

Also, I should add that those are the times the models are run. It's usually at least a "little" while before their actually updated. The runs can take a while to complete, I think.

Right now in LA, it's 11:09 am. UTC time is 16:09. So that means 18z will be 1 pm my time, if I am figuring things right. So...

00z = 7 pm
06z = 1 am
12z = 7 am
18z = 1 pm

Oh and keep in mind that the way this time scale is reckoned, Tuesday will start at 7 pm today. Hope that helps.
