Even though Ivan does not totally look like a Cat. 5 on that IR image, Javier sure does make him look like one.

Javier would be one of the few canes that people want to make landfall in the U.S. The drought stricken southwest has had another dismal monsoon season.

It's actually looking much better now.

I remember Iris in 2001 when it first became a hurricane. It looked SO ugly for it to have been a hurricane. The size and shape was so disturbing to see.

This one actually has symmetry to it and looks about to be ready to explode into a major hurricane with the dreaded "pinhole" eye...

Seriously, compared to Ivan, it looks like an afternoon thunderstorm.

I guess all things are relative.
