Bumping this up from Page 3 because I was under the impression that the Moderators were going to lock down frivolous and repetitive threads to conserve bandwidth.

I mean, c'mon. Between 10:30 pm and 8:30 am, this board posted 3 pages of Frances and Ivan posts??

This Message Board seems more like Instant Messager. Instead of replying in existing topics, people just start new ones.

I think the "frivolous" posting is just another part of what keeps everyone coming back. How long do people spend on a board with virtually zero activity? Probably less than a nano-second...

Thank you! Ya know..there's been numerous questions in the past as to why we have so MANY mods, well, it's obvious that we ARE the busiest board and the BEST board on the net and with ALL the heavy traffic as of late, it takes that many, no one can stay online 24 hrs a day!

That's not what I'm saying.

What I'm saying is that I'd rather sift through 5 topics with 15 pages of responses than 3 pages of topics where the same info is stated over and over.

This is supposed to be a message board not a chat room.
You can reply to a topic. It's allowed.

Sorry all the threads bother you so much. Some of us are concerned and can express that concern here. If you have such a problem, why don't you go somewhere else?

Why can't you express your concerns in the form of a response to a thread that has already been started??

Why do people need to start a new thread to say what they have to say?

Here's one example. Look how much a thread can morph into something else. This thread was created to thank the mods for all the great work they are doing and look where it is now.

Thanks mods for everything that you are doing. :)

Gosh, how many ways can you say that your only question is how many ways can people talk about the hurricane?

I have had very little sleep since last Friday with nervous anticipation of Frances....will it make a direct hit on my place or not? Had a funny feeling in my waters....about this storm. Well since Wednesday its been a more or less dead cert (as far as anything can be in hurricane prediction).....and today it is still very close to the centre of the eye and may even be the point where landfall is ie direct hit)...however just come to accept it! As a result I totally exhausted and it hasn't even hit yet!

Goodness knows what the Mods must feel like trying to man the board plus cope with the stress will it hit there place or there friends place!

Big up to all those mods and forcasters out there! Lets hope you have a few days rest before the next storm roles in! They say that September is normally the worst month for hurricanes in southern USA and it in only the beginning of the month! I fear this month will be a very long one!

Rules In Chat

#33 Postby Big_Steve » Mon Sep 13, 2004 1:49 am

How about stopping the personal attacks on me, mods. I'm sick of it.
NO staff member has made an attack we are enforcing our rules plain and simple
Rainband:

You got a link to your "Rules"? Would your "Rules" also include your "Rules In Storm Chat"? If they do I would certainly like to read over your "Rules".

Also; how about a link to your "Moderator Rules". I'd like to see those as well since I have an issue or two with some of your MODs in Storm Chat.

I did read a post last night on this board by another member who claimed to be a MOD who was responding to another member's post; the MOD's comments went something like this: "I do my best to abide by all of the rules".

I'd like to see those rules which that MOD tries to abide by; I most certainly would since I have an issue or two with some of those MODs in Storm Chat.

That comment came in from left field faster than a model shift.

Watching the MODS.

#39 Postby Big_Steve » Mon Sep 13, 2004 4:34 am

Sorry but I didn't receive any set of rules when I signed up last year. Some of you make think this is humorous but I can assure you that it's not. I have issues with a few of the MODs in Storm Chat resulting from an incident which got me kicked out of Storm Chat last week; the first time I've ever been kicked out of that forum since joining this site last year and I'd still like to know what those rules are; if in fact they do actually exist.
