Wow, almost looks like Ivan, except Gilbert was a little more west in this shot.

Gilbert continued WNW into Northern Mexico just south of Brownsville. Gilbert was also forecast to turn NW and N but never did. I'm not trying to say that Ivan willl do the same because I believe the synoptic situation is diiferent in Ivans case. It is quite interesting that both storms are almost in the same place nearly 16 years to the day. This photo was probably when Gilbert was his strongest, 888mb I think.
