Miami is definitely not "safe," yet. However, watching the track of Ivan this evening, I would think it would be OK to breath a small sigh of relief. Some things become pretty obvious as you watch the system. I started breathing those sighs of relief with Charley and Frances when it became pretty much common sense through viewing satellite that the systems really weren't going to make drastic turns and come to New Orleans. But, things are certainly looking better for the Miami area, IMO.

I will take the duds.. no problem.. I am certainly feeling better this morning. Maybe I will not wake up at 5:00am tomorrow to check the advisory.. It would be a first since I have been waking up automatically!

charley, irene, andrew, debby and even ivan that looked like a sure bet to hit jamaica....the list goes on and on..there is a good reason nhc has the cone, its real and its based on statisitics, they dont sit there and say okay today the cone will be this. weak steering makes it even a bigger problem. lets just watch and hope it doesnt hit the area you live in.

My thoughts exactly. Some of the models still have it as a crossover, similar to Charley. It all depends on the timing of sinking fronts. Everyone should keep an eye on this storm. He may be a catagory 5 at the time of landfall. You cannot relax until the storm is well north of you.

I am beginning to realixe the ridiculousness of waking up at 5 to check a forecast that is 72+ away. If you are prepared, I think obsessing on the undulations of a storm is a waste of your energies. BE aware? of course.. but making your life's moods dependant on the GFS or UKMET? Forget it.

I agree but now if I could only make my body not get up automatically. I had everyone coming into work this morning to finish things up & close the office but I called them and told them not to come. I can always do it tomorrow or Monday if need be. Be safe everyone!
