Give me a BREAK !!

#1 Postby WaryEye » Fri Sep 10, 2004 10:49 pm

Am I the only one that has grown tired of The Weather Channel's theatrics? When they are not showing re-run after re-run of Storm Stories ( such as right now when in my opinion they should be covering poor Jamaica) they are giving cheesy over dramatic coverage of Ivan....

For example.. showing pics of houses in FL still boarded up from Frances that say " Go Away Frances" and remarking that they should NOW say "Go Away Ivan. " CLEVER. I am far from amused and I am betting that I speak for Florida too.

I am tired of Jim Cantore.... this guy has more intensity than a firecracker. His eyes are always HUGE as if he is reporting on the Apocalypse when in most cases he is only saying " Now stay tuned for your local forecast".

:slime: :larrow: Jim Cantore

<sigh> Sorry if some think I am being rash but I needed to vent about this. It's been a rough week.....

I made a post last night about Storm Stories airing. I hate them. I remember the good ole days when you could turn on TWC at anytime during the day and get(are you ready for this?) *gasp* WEATHER!

You don't say ??? Well, that would be nice from time to time as my life is too fast paced for their lack of humor.

Yep, this was mentioned yesterday. There's no doubt they wouldn't have been sidetracking hurricane coverage for something like Storm Stories 5-10 years ago, but even then TWC wouldn't have focused total attention to a non-US area like Jamaica.

I bet they figure that if you want to know about Jamaica so badly, there's always the internet...

TWC is a cable oddity. When it first came on about 20 yrs ago, it was very good at doing indepth weather. Now, its too commercialized and they don't have "time" to spend giving you any real useful info.

I don't even bother anymore. I just come to the internet and my local met's for the wx updates.

The Weather Channel is a joke.

Fortunately we have guys like Bryan Norcross down here in FL. He knows his stuff - he's a professional - tells it like it is without drama - and is on around the clock when this community needs him. He kept South Florida together during Andrew and it hasn't gone to his head, either. This is the man all others should be compared to.
