Severe threat today will be across eastern Iowa, northern Missouri and into northern Illinois later this evening. The severe threat will be isoalted though and mainly a large hail threat with some possibility for damaging winds if the elevated storms become more surface based.
Tomorrow will be even more active though as a cold front and a disturbance plows into the Ohio Valley. Certainly the recipe is there for supercell storms and lines of storms with bow segments. Primary threat tomorrow will be wind damage across the Ohio Valley. But lagre hail and tornadoes are not impossible either.
A more active period ahead. By the way, it's 72 at BWI Airport and it's expected to climb into the low to mid 80s today for DC and Baltimore. A monumentally nice day. I have my shorts on and my short sleeve, both light colored. That's something to think about during the summer, light weight, but light colored clothing.
