A shelter with 600 people just lost its roof, they try to put them in another shelter but don't know how to get them there, as the winds are too strong.

In St. Mary various buildings have been flattened.

OMG. Some fellow sounding very intelligent, speaking of pressure differentials, said that people need to open windows to relieve pressure so they won't lose their roofs.

The announcers, thanked him for the "Very good advice".

...some guy called and said "the pressure is different in the house then outside" that people have though houses too closed up and that is why roofs are flying off... they need to open the windows away from the wind to stop this. And the DJ's said that was good advice... I WAS SCREAMING AT MY COMPUTER! like they were gonna hear me all the way down in Jamaica how wrong they were *sighs*

With all due respect to earlier posters, and so very, very sad for Jamaica, TROPICAL STORMS include hurricanes. It's all a matter of wind speed.

This board has sure become tough.

This is horrible. :(

When you have roofs blowing off of the shelters and people getting advice like "Open your windows!", not to mention the people refusing to evacuate.......a lot of people are going to perish tonight.
