You live and learn, or either die trying. All I can do is pray for them.

Peebles,

That's ok - better to be safe than to not care. Very much appreciate your posting the info though! :)

This is so tragic! Continuing to pray, but it's like listening to a re-broadcast of Titanic footage.

May God Bless and Help those poor people, they're going to need it truly!

wow...jamaica is under deep doo doo. All the callers sound like they have smoked the funny stuff all day long. Seems like a general lack of urgency on the part of the Jamaicans....and they have commercials playing????

Anyone else keep getting "server timed out" error messages? I can listen for about 2 minutes and I lose the feed and get a RealPlayer error.

need to reward those dee-jays

#49 Postby Houstonia » Fri Sep 10, 2004 7:08 pm

These 2 deejays are ROCKING.. Their calm voices and quick information really seems helpful.

Can we find out the names of these dee-jays if we want to send them letters?

Woman calling in now looking for transportation to a shelter. They're telling her the winds are probably too strong for any public transportation to pick her up, so she has to find her own way there.

I emailed them lastnight, they sent me a thankyou letter. Oh and I also mentioned that everyone on the board was praying for them. Let me go to the other thread that people ignored that was posted first to get the email address.

This is so sad...they're on the phone with someone trying to figure out WHERE the hurricane is right now...they caller is saying that he's looking at the NHC's website and sees only the 5 pm information! The radio host is trying to find out where it is and when it's coming!

I just heard the psychologist refer to teh dee-jay as Cliff, so now I know what show is on:

it's called Nationwide and the link is: http://www.go-jamaica.com/power/pp-nationwide.html

Their email is: nationwide106@hotmail.com

I wouldn't email them now though - probably they are VERY busy.

Yorktown person talking ....... most windows gone, some people in shelters. The wind is taking down houses, trees and light poles.

people are now starting to flock to the shelters.
some are filling up and some of the shelters are prone to flooding and people are being directed elsewhere.

gangs of men are looting, armed and dangerous..

Roads are void of traffic and full of debri.. Trees and parts of roofs....

Just had to laugh they use 119 instead of 911 ... and are reminding people to report anytime of gunfire or looting. thats sad but the 119 thing caught me.. Can hear rain and wind as the police officer online is talking..

A woman just called in to report that her house is coming apart and the roof is coming off, relating the information as calmly as if she was reciting a recipe to the commentators.

I loved it earlier when they asked a caller if he had "battries." He said, "Oh yeah, mon, I got de Energizers." It was great.

Oh no, a roof on one of the shelters has already given way. The shelter occupants have to be relocated to another school.

Zinc roofs flying left and right, sounds of flapping roof to be heard in the background in Manchester and St. Andrew.
Heavy looting in Montego Bay, warehouses and cars are broken into.
