Intensity question

#1 Postby quickychick » Thu Sep 09, 2004 8:21 pm

Asked earlier, got lost in the fray (or, people hate me, yuk yuk).

In the perfect conditions, such as hot hot water, no shear, no other major weather features affecting the system...could a hurricane intensify so much that it blows itself out (i.e. just can't follow the laws of physics any longer)?

I don't expect Ivan to do this, it's just a hypothetical question.

I think the answer is it will intensify until the eye collapses on itself, hence the ERC, which lowers it
down a bit, then sometimes winds back up.

It would exhaust itself after awhile....just like Summertime thunderstorms exhaust themselves, except this would be a much larger case, obviously...
