How far from water am I?
Does anyone know how I might go about figuring out how far away from the water I am (i.e., Tampa Bay or the Gulf, whichever is closer)?

Back when Charley hit, there were some excellent images of this on a television site out of Tampa. Do a search of Tampa tv stations on the web...once you get to that station (sorry I forget which it is) it should be pretty obvious...as it'll say something about evacuation levels or something like that.

Try going to http://www.wfts.com/ they probably have the most comprehensive information about evacuations. I know that some areas that don't seem like they would be in danger are the first ones to be evacuated because of surge related flooding of the waterways.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Use http://www.mapquest.com and type in your address. Zoom out and use the ruler in the upper right hand corner to estimate your distance to the water.
