Cat5 Duration Question
I saw someone mention this info earlier, but I was skimming and can't remember which thread it was in -- what's the longest a hurricane has maintained a Cat5 standing?

In a perfect environment (hot water, no shear, not going over land mass) can a hurricane get so intense it blows itself right out (i.e. unable to maintain itself due to physics constraints)?
Since most or all weaken due to interaction with other things such as those mentioned above...just curious to hear some thoughts/knowledge about a ginormous storm.
