Perfect CDO...

#1 Postby Harbormaster » Wed Sep 08, 2004 8:38 pm

The floater now shows a perfect "donut-like CDO".... no N/S orientation to it whatsoever anymore. Unlike in the last few hours, this storm looks perfect (unfortunately)......

Looks like a five.

Ivan has got to be very very close to a 5 right now.
Very impressive images tonight.

If Ivan isn't a 5, or makes a 5, then there will never be another 5.

Classic in every way.

We never had the quality satellite images to verify this.

This is the most impressive looking system I have seen since mitch. It is truly amazing. The feeder bands look scarier than frances did when it passed over me here in tampa.

Actually, this is one of the most hideous and ugly looking perfect things that I have ever seen.

...not trying to beautify a potential serial killer. I just hope that this is a predictable storm a couple of days prior to landfall (if it landfalls) so people get out of the way of this.

This storm needs to be hyped as MUCH as possible. It also needs to be made clear that if this does become a 5, that it is far more dangerous than Charley, Frances, Fran, Hugo ?????????????? ever was!

I hope that the TV folks explain that the 3-4-5 is not linear and is more exponential than anything.

Oh my god.

:(

Jim Cantore just asked Steve Lyons if Jamaica would be recognizable after Ivan hits and he responded "Probably not"

He said he expects near-Cat 5 intensity at 11pm.

Yes - I agree. Small difference in the numbers, but extreme difference in the effect/impact.

Good point on the exponential impact of the force of wind related to wind speed. 155 is a tremendous amount more powerful than 140. Be glad that this is exploding over open water and pray that it dies off SOON!
