can anyone say anything good about ivan?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Not at the moment ...

If he somehow encountered a more sheared environment, say if the ULL ahead of him stopped backing off, then he could be weakened.

Unfortunately, I don't see any prospect of that right now.

Nothing good about him as far as WE and anyone in his path are concerned, but I'll bet as far as Hurricanes go he's a mighty fine fellow! One of those that other hurricanes can only dream of being...a superstar if you will. :notworthy:

the only good thing is that passing over Jamaica, Haiti, or Cuba, he will have to spend some time in the mountains which could shred him apart. Unfortunately, moving at his current clip he wouldnt spend too much time in the mountains. Because of the warm water and very little shear, he wont weaken in any other manner.

Ummm he's pulling heat and energy out of the oceans and atmosphere so that they don't overheat?

He's no longer forecast to hit Haiti, but instead stay south. He will hit Jamaica, might weaken 5 mph. Cuba might weaken it 5-10 mph, but if it goes a little more west it'll go over the part Charley crossed and he didn't weaken at all.

We are now at the peak of hurricane season so I'm hoping this will be the last major cane of the season. I know there are no guarantees but maybe we are getting over the hump this week.

well... Ivan is doing a great job of "venting" warm
air into the upper atmosphere to be transported
to the upper latitudes... thats what hurricanes are
for... just a shame land has to be in the way...
