...I'm able to run my puter and cable modem off my car battery (inverter) for a few hours at a time. It's frustrating in that people literally 100 yards from me have power, yet it may be another 5-7 days for me. Oh well. If I could just get ice, it wouldn't be so bad.
The storm? We got lucky down here, compared to the poor people in Martin and St. Lucie Counties. The front half was really not that bad as it basically blew over my shoulder (my townhouse has S and E exposure). Then we had about 1 1/2 - 2 hours of the eye.
For some reason, I had convinced myself that the back side wouldn't be so bad. I knew the wind would be coming from a different direction, but thought it would die down a bit. Boy was I wrong.
It blew probably 90MPH for about 5-6 hours. It felt like 24 hours. I was huddled in the downstairs bathroom with both cats. I'm not afraid to admit that I was scared. I didn't know what was going to happen, or if it was ever going to let up.
As you can see if you hit the picture links, structural damage around my neighborhood was limited, but trees are down everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE!
I hope I linked these pictures correctly. I'm not used to this type of message board.
