Unite Gulf Coast!
I am for a newly formed union to represent us Gulf Coast Hurricane Enthusiast from the Yucatan to Key West. We should unite in our quest to break the Northeastern and Right turn trends encouraged by the Eastern Coast Hurricane Enthusiast. We are a proud group with a left and forward bias, let us demand our rights to support the model underdogs. We must silence the ones who break down our West Atlantic Ridges, push back the Trough Invaders from the Plains and silence the daytime NHC shift for their lack of detail discussion and their right bias. Standup my comrades of hurricane madness let us unite on the Gulf Coast. Stand and be counted, let me hear your voices.

For your info, I'm a Camille, Frederic, Elena, Danny, and George survivor and a half dozen tropical storms on my plate as well. While hurricanes can and are devastating, they are survivable. Thats why we are at the top of the food chain and are capable of making life saving decisions. There is no excuse for anyone being killed during a hurricane. Todays technology gives us everything we need to make an informed decision. Remember, human life is precious and material things are replaceable. If you live in a hurricane prone area, its because you choose to, so all I can say is, Get Some Insurance! or Move! No reason to get all wigged out over hurricanes, I think they are a testament to God's awesome creation and I enjoy observing the birth and death of a tropical system.

I agree. While I don't like to see what they leave behind, you just roll with the punches and get back on your feet.

Thank you TideFreak... I'm sure your a veteran of tropical weather , and I'm certainly not implying any ignorance on your part, just makes me shake my head when I see so many people on this board freaking out. I use to post to the old board several years back as DrHurricane, and I quit for a while because it got out of control with hype, instead of trading and sharing insights into the synoptic patterns that were affecting the storms and how they may develop and guide the storms future movement. One of the best one on here that has taught me, even back in the day of the old forum is MWatkin.

Yeah... Fredrick was the noisiest (sp) storm ever experienced here. ALL of the wind was from the north, and virtually every tree that was down had an almost exact north/south orientation. And yes, it is truly amazing the impact that wind has on tidal waters - coming OR going...

I agree F1979. i;'ve lived here in Mobile since birth, 1959, so I have also been through all that you mentioned. On Dog River for 39 years, and I feel exactly as you do
""I think they are a testament to God's awesome creation and I enjoy observing the birth and death of a tropical system""
I guess at this time though I am feeling terribly sorry for our friends in Florida, and would really be glad if it would not hit anywhere on the gulf coast, even though I realize that is not probable.
