Brazilian Hurricane - March 2004

#1 Postby Burn1 » Tue Sep 07, 2004 8:04 pm

Not to change subjects but does anyone remember the phenomena that occured in the S. Atlantic back in March. A cat 1 hurricane hit the coast of Brazil......NHC says it was a Hurricane, which is extremely rare if not non-existent for the South Atlantic. Brazil Mets say that it wasn't....However
it sure acted like one and looked like one on SAT photos. Interesting if anyone else has a comment

I'm completely sure it was a hurricane, although the South Atlantic is not fertile for tropical systems to develop that doesn't mean that there is never the first time. If the images didn't fool me, it was a completely develop strong Cat. 1 or middle Cat. 2 hurricane.

I'll never forget that one.

I got up at 3AM to feed our then 3 month old daughter, and thought I was hallucinating in the worst way.

It's late Winter, and Steved Lyons is on TWC at 2AM? Brazil, hurricane? what?

But after catching up on sleep, I realized it was indeed a hurricane.
