I am amazed about Ivan

I dont know about you folks but I am completly amazed about Ivan because he has done the intensification phase in 2 areas that are not the best to have that kind of phase and those are the below 10n area on sunday and now close to the north coast of South America.It is worrisom when it gets to the western caribbean sea where there are much warmer waters how more strong it may get and if it gets into the GOM another bathtub area. :eek:

I agree Luis. I'm stunned this has not just maintained intensity but has strengthened rapidly. I've watched countless systems come into this area and completely fall apart.

Ivan already showing signs he is a very powerful hurricane in the making.I think he will be the first cat 5 of the season easily :eek:

thats why I had predicted Ivans downfall there...but he has completely destroyed my prediction already.

I've seen just as many hurricanes rapidly intensify in the E Carib as have fallen apart.

Storms either fall apart here or rapidly intensify. There is usually no inbetween

Good point here - have we had a cat 5 in the tropical atlantic in this millenium??

Isabel last year when it was NE of the Leeward Islands... 165 mph winds, 916 mb pressure.

Name the ones that have intensified Derek where Ivan is now. I bet you cant without time consuming research. There are very few that have traversed that far south on a 270 heading. I am calling you on this one buddy.

Ivan has had many advercities to deal with through the past 36 hours and he has handled them all very well. Is there anything to stop this monster?

Brett was the only one in the 90's that threatened the hot pepper crops in Tobago about 10 years ago. There was another that went into Bluefields, Nic, a few years earlier late in the hurricane season.
