Including two earlier in North Charleston (11:10 and 11:15 am 9/7/04)... and a funnel cloud in Goose Creek, SC (11:28 am) ...

The 11:10 am tornado was reported by a trained spotter near Northwoods Mall with reports of minor damage and trees down ... also at 11:15 AM, Intersection of Rivers Ave and Ashley Phosphate Rd ... the Mount Moriah Church had shingles blown off the roof, and two large oak trees down ...

The heaviest damage and apparently the strongest tornado in SC has been reported in Sumter, SC ... where 30 homes destroyed, and 3 injuries ...

As of 5 PM EDT (9/7/04) -- South Carolina has had 27 tornado reports ...

Sheesh - I saw footage this morning from Gadsen I believe...

I remember a few years ago when another one came through like this we had a major tornado in Moncks Corner that wiped away part of Cedar Island (Fairlawn) --- People underestimate how dangerous remnants can be.

Had a post on that last night ... In Moncks Corner, SC during the extratropical phase of Hurricane Earl (which still sustained winds of 50 mph ...), several discrete supercells produced tornadoes in the Lowcountry ... one in Cottageville which struck a mobile home and injured badly someone I went to school with's mother (also was my best friend at the time's fiance ...), and of course, the Fairlawn Subdivision took very heavy damage, in which many residents said was WORSE than Hugo ... the tornado was rated F3 ...

Also TV2 just reported in Johns Island, a 50 ft tree downed earlier today in strong thunderstorm winds ...

Update:

Tornadoes (Tornado reports)
Florida - 5
Georgia - 5
South Carolina - 28
North Carolina - 8

Lowcountry of South Carolina has been under a continuous tornado watch for 30 consecutive hours ...and might continue after 7 pm (when this current watch is set to expire ... IMHO, it will be continued throughout tonight) ...

My lights are flickering here in Rock Hill. These rainbands are awesome
to experience even though they are remnants. I'd love to read something
that explains the dynamics of rainbands. Almost like mini cold fronts.

I guess that means we can expect some tornadoes coming our way tonight in the Triad region of NC, huh?

It must all be inland, because here in Mt. Pleasant there has been nothing. I don't know if we had any rain today and it looks not too bad out.
I heard that there might be a record too. We are missing it all here.
