NWS mets in TX now watching Ivan

#1 Postby Portastorm » Tue Sep 07, 2004 2:14 pm

From the Corpus Christi AFD ..... MODEL CONSENSUS HAS BEEN TRENDING HURRICANE IVAN MORE TOWARD THE SOUTH AND WEST POSSIBLY KEEPING THE SYSTEM SOUTH OF CUBA AND CROSSING THE YUCATAN CHANNEL ON SUN (WITH GFS CONTINUING TO BE AN ERLY OUTLIER). NHC TRACK HAS BEEN TRENDING MORE SOUTH AND WEST AS WELL...SO LOOKING LIKE IVAN MAY BE A PLAYER IN THE GULF EARLY NEXT WEEK.

APPEARS THAT THE AFOREMENTIONED UPR TROUGH ACROSS THE NRN GULF WOULD FINALLY GETS ITS ATTENTION AT THAT POINT (ASSUMING GFS HAS THAT RIGHT)...BUT HARD TO SAY THIS FAR OUT AND WILL JUST HAVE TO WATCH HOW THE UPR FLOW EVOLVES THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

Everybody from Texas to Florida should be watching. If I had my preference, I'd give this storm to Vicente Fox.

Here is another TX Disc from Brownsville:

ANOTHER AREA OF CONCERN IS HURRICANE IVAN. GLOBAL MODELS INDICATE
THAT IT COULD MOVE INTO THE CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO BY EARLY NEXT
WEEK. WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR FOR POSSIBLE WX EFFECTS FOR DEEP
SOUTH TX.

We need some rain here, but not blown sideways at 100mph! Guess we'll have to keep a closer eye on him than we here in Texas originally thought.

I have to disagree. The spaghetti models I saw at hurricane alley looked pretty aligned on a pass over Cuba and to the north.

Hello neighbor!

What part of League City?

I live near Friendswoods and work at South Shore. The new American National Office is right outside my second story office window.
